The Civil War was a time of great change during the United States's history. All the citizens were affected greatly and deeply by the outcome of the war and the bloody cost of a civil revolution. As from before the beginning, it was apparent that the Union was going to win as they outnumbered the South. However, the Confederacy (the new nation formed from the Southern states that seceded) was ready to cause great reformation in the United States of America. For many years, their opinion was excluded as the Northern Industry dominated American society since the creation of the United States. Southerners wanted to keep their slaves and way of life-which they had followed for scores of years. The Union was appalled when the South could was able to put up such a fight during the First Battle of Bull Run. The results of the first battle would set the standards for the rest of the Civil War. Although, due to the Northerners ingenuity and use of industry (which was greatly improved through the Industrial Revolution) the Union would gain the upper hand and eventually win the war.
The Civil War had came and went, with at least 600,000 casualties on both sides of the war after 4 years of battling through many different tactics. Many did not consider the implications that it caused on the United States's economy, social life, and political policies and how they were related. However, the Civil War would change even the average American's life for forever.
